It's time to meet Katie

Where are you from? Where do you live?
I grew up in Edina, MN {those from MN are thinking a few things right now... I know, but it's a great town} but I live in St. Paul, MN and have for about 6 years now.  I love St. Paul.  It's quaint and some of the nicest people live here.  I have also lived in Iowa City {for a hot second} and Bozeman, MT for about a year.

Favorite pastime?
Travel.  I love to travel.  I used to do it all the time.  Then I realized I was not rich, and needed to slow down.  I'm counting the day until we go to Mexico {that's 4 days away} where I will teach some yoga and lay on the beach.  I can't wait.  If I could travel every 6 weeks, I would.  I also LOVE yoga but my favorite pastimes include family time.  I love the crap out of my family.

Guilty Pleasure?
Lifetime movies, like the really over dramatic ones - usually that involve some crazy murder. Oh my god...now I want to run and hide.
** my husband will confirm this all as true.

Favorite band? Current favorite song?
I love music.  Those that know me in my teaching life - yoga, sculpt, spinning - know that music is what inspires me and my classes.  With that said, none of those are really timeless "favorites."  Right now I love... "I love it" by Icona Pop.  Thanks to Matt.

Favorite food or meal?
I love a few things.  Roasted vegetables are delish and frankly my favorite way of eating them.  I also love a good salmon.  And I love love nachos.  Ok, there I said.  I love to make them at home and up the ante.  GF chips, really good quality cheese (yes, I said cheese), black beans, fresh peppers, jalapenos, cilantro, shredded lettuce, and fresh salsa.  These are a treat.  The real deal.

What's your favorite product in your makeup bag?
I'm a lip gloss kind of gal.  I use almost all plant based/vegan products for my face but have yet to find a lip gloss that I love more then Revlon's shin city, #10.  Does that have chemicals, yes... do I make exceptions because I love it so damn much, yes.  There I go defending my lip gloss.

What's the best advice you've ever been given?
This is from a yoga meditation book that I read from in almost every class I teach and it states, "The only thing others want you to be is yourself..." We operate so much on the expectations of what we think others want us to be or do.  I think being ourselves is tough - this is a great reminder.

Dream vacation?
I want to go everywhere so this is difficult.  I think Fiji or Tahiti might just rock.

Did you have a new year's resolution?
Just to continue to focus on de-stressing AND to make Prescribe Nutrition our dream "place."

What got you interested in nutrition?
I've always been interested in health and nutrition as long as I can remember.  I've had my own struggles and I also know that food has the ability to heal and change lives... I needed to know more and I needed to share it.

Anything else you'd like us to know about you?
I used to be a figure skater and I sometimes think about how fun it is to do cartwheels.  So there's that.
