It's "Juniors" month, and we are starting small! Planting the seeds and starting 'em young. Bring Your Own Baby to yoga is a great way to begin down your children's path to health and wellness. Including children, and yes even infants, in our daily workouts sets a wonderful tone regarding the importance of being active.
I practiced my birthing plan at a wonderful Blooma yoga studio that has: prenatal, baby, toddler, child, teen, and adult yoga classes. During our hypnobirthing classes our instructor mentioned coming back to the studio with our babies for yoga classes. Babies and yoga? Twist my arm...
Not sure what to expect at our first class together, I was pleasantly surprised that it was more than just me holding yoga poses with my 8 week old baby in tow. The first part of the class was spent gently massaging our babies, bicycling their tiny legs and even doing some teeny tiny twists. We bonded and connected through movement together. It was actually a really beautiful experience for us.
That was our first "workout" together and although we couldn't afford to go to the class daily or even weekly, I carved out "yoga" time for us everyday at home. I loved telling her what I was doing to her tiny body and how she would looked at me wide-eyed and curious. The path to being active together can start early. And as Blooma so beautifully puts it, "Let baby in on the yoga action physically, mentally, and spiritually to build a strong bond of trust and security— the foundation of self-confidence for baby."
lots of "littles" love,
Anna
